Day #451 Carrots, Eggs, and Coffee

Here’s another blog post that has nothing to do with bees.
A friend of mine in Australia shared an interesting story with me recently about a wise old woman who helped a younger woman deal with adversity. “Dig up some carrots,” she said, “and gather some eggs, then bring me some ground coffee beans.”
She did as directed, and then was instructed to put them all in boiling water. So she took three pots, brought water to boil, and put the carrots in one, the eggs in another, and the coffee in the third.
“Look at them,” the older woman said after a while. “What do you see?”
The young woman replied, “They’ve all cooked.”
“Yes,” said the wise woman, “but look at the differences. The carrots were hard and resistant when they were put in the water, but they softened up and gave in to the heat. The eggs, with their soft vulnerability, became hard in the boiling water. As for the coffee? Well, it changed the water!
We all have adversity. But how each one of us reacts to that adversity is up to us. Will we be carrots, eggs, or coffee?
BEEattitude for Day #451:
Blessed are those who cook with joy no matter what they cook, for they shall spread happiness.

Yes, Cathy, you're right. It made me rethink a lot of how I act (or react) through life.
