Day #599 Garage Door Saga

Pat Gerard, the archivist who is working on my papers (doesn’t that sound official?), sent me this link last week when she read that I was being required by Gwinnett County to get rid of the “graffiti” on my garage doors.

I wish I had the courage (and the artistic talent) to do this, but I’m sure it would be labeled graffiti as well.

The tag line on Pat’s email, by the way, was a quotation from Tennyson:
Proverbs are "jewels five words long, that, on the stretched forefinger of time, sparkle forever."

My garage door went from looking like this:

to looking like this:

to looking like this (with the second coat of purple and the green around the windows):

Not a bad trade after all, I’d say. And now, I’m not going to say anything more about that door. Except to say that I painted the front door of my house purple, too!

BEEattitude for Day #599:
Blessed are those who look on the bright side, the way we bees do, for they shall have sunny days despite the clouds.

I love purple - everything looks great especially your model!!! It's such a shame that some authorities have to pick on something as simple as a garage door when there are 'bigger fish to fry' on the streets!

Purple is my favorite color, too. It looks great!

Thank you, Petie and Cathy! The model is my granddaughter. And green is my favorite color -- followed in close second by purple.

So the front door is now purple and the wooden frame of the screen door is green. Am I in a rut of some sort?

I thought the “graffiti” on your door actually looked quite cool, but that new paint job is totally the bees’ knees! The combination of purple and green is eye-catching and interesting. But if you want something arts-y, like the library painting, you could employ garage door posters. There are companies out there that create posters for garage doors that make them look like something else entirely.

I know, Libbie. I've seen some wonderful ones, but I'm a do-it-yourself kind of person. I actually enjoy painting.

Wow! What a vibrant color for a garage door! It made your garage door so attractive and it has livened up the atmosphere of your garage. I’m pretty sure passersby will have second glance in this charming garage door. Kudos for this amazing change!

Glad you like it, Sharron. I've had people stop in the street and take pictures of it.
