Fantastic! Took my mom to Rome in 1977 - a true trip of a lifetime. She would have loved your 'bee view' also!
The amazing thing about this video "tour" of the chapel is that there aren't any people in it (except the ones painted on the walls and ceiling). How lovely to be able to see it without chattering in the background.
I'm so glad you and your mom were able to go there and that you remember it with such fondness. She must have been a delightful woman.
You know, Fran, she always told Katie & I that (a) age was only a number and (b) if you want to do something, do it and maybe regret doing it rather than not doing it and wishing you had. Our father left when we were 5 so Mother was all we had and that's how it was at our house. We never really relied on anyone if we could do it ourselves. Yes ma'am, she was a role model if ever there was one.
Wounds like you ought to write down her story. Have you ever considered it? Or have you done it already?
No ma'am - never have - Katie & I are always 'reminiscing' about things Mom did or said ... she had a pretty colorful life - we have a photo of her sitting on Emmett Kelly's knee (in his clown clothes) and she wrote on the back "my deep dark secret - should I bring him home or just keep him in the dark?" She was with the USO at the time and we always told kids at school that was our father!! Sounds like we need to take the time to write down things like that for Billy & his children and really for our own memories.
Petie, you think you'll remember all those stories ,but over the years they fade. And you might be surprised that some of your sister's memories are slightly different from your own. When my sister and I talk about our childhood, sometimes I think we were raised in totally different families. Of course, we're not twins, so maybe you and Katie recall things more nearly the same way.
Either write them down or record conversations with your sister. You won't regret it!
